Plumbing inspection using thermal imaging

The applications for thermal cameras are wide ranging. Direct yet non-invasive, this imaging technology can safely allow inspectors to assess systems ranging from electrical wiring, to heating systems, and even plumbing. The picture below shows a wastewater pipe clogged with debris. Hot water is being flushed down the pipe, hence the image showing the lighter yellow and white colors. However, the debris clogging and lining the walls of the pipe creates a temperature differential of which the thermal camera picks up, since the gunk is insulating the pipe from the hot water within it, allowing for quick detection.
