Yes, Even New Homes Need Inspections!

We often get asked by homebuyers whether to obtain a home inspection for a brand new home – after all it just got completed by a developer, right?

Even brand-new homes can benefit from a professional inspection to ensure everything has been completed to standard. While developers and general contractors work with skilled teams, the complexity of modern construction means that occasional oversights can happen. For instance, during a recent inspection of a newly built home, we found that insulation had been missed entirely in the attic—an easy-to-miss detail that could have led to higher energy costs and comfort issues. A home inspection provides added peace of mind by verifying that every aspect of the build has been properly addressed before you move in.

And while municipalities would complete building permit inspections throughout the construction process, limitations in depth of inspection by municipal inspectors often leave things missed.

Below is an example where attic insulation was completely overlooked in a newly built home. Our client scheduled a full home inspection before taking possession, and we discovered that the insulation contractor had not returned to complete the installation—a detail that had been unintentionally missed during the final stages of construction.
